About Us

Who is this Dave Crockett, anyway?

The answers to your questions, in order are:
* Yes
* Yes
* No and
* Yes
Yes, my name really is Dave Crockett. Yes, I do claim some kinship to the intrepid coonskin cap-wearing, one-time Congressman from Tennessee and former shortterm resident of the Alamo. No, I was not born in on a mountaintop or anywhere else in Tennessee, myself (though both of my parents were born in that state) nor do I own a coonskin cap. And, yes, I do get a lot of comments about my name. Now that we have all that behind us, let me tell you that like my partner, I am not a computer engineer or scientist. I started out my professional life as a broadcast journalist and moved into computer-based communications back in 1990, before there was a WWW and before the Internet was cool. That work progressed into computer support and, well, the rest is history. My formal résumé (PDF format) is available if you are really interested in my background. About the only odd thing on it is the fact that, just after turning 49 in 2002, I completed a Master's degree in Human Resource Development after more than four years of effort! I like to think that my communications background gives me an edge over more traditionally trained computer support folks. I retired from a fulltime IT position helping support more than 400 Mac and PC users in the College of Engineering and Science at Clemson University in 2011. References are available on request.

Terri VaughanAnd what about this Vaughan person...?

I am related to neither Sarah nor Stevie Ray Vaughan but my late father, Jerry Vaughan was from nearby Seneca, SC (SHS Class of ’57), is a very talented musician in his own right. This has absolutely nothing to do with my computer skills, but since Dave dropped a famous name I thought I would, too!

I, like Dave, am a self-taught girl geek (ok, so he isn’t a girl!) who is Jill of just enough technical trade to figure computer things out, and master (mistress) of just enough to teach you what I know, should you choose to know it. I have provided technical support for Clemson University (where I work now in the Office of Creative Services, providing fulltime IT support to more than 50 professional staff), the University of Florida, Scotland County NC Department of Social Services as well as a short stint with a startup in Silicon Valley – Mountainview, CA. The majority of my professional background (PDF format) is in PC and networking support (with a little Unix thrown in for good measure) but in 2000 I was lucky enough to convince Dave that I would make a good Mac convert and voilà – I’ve been hooked on Macs ever since. When you hire us to satisfy your computer needs, you will get a tag team of highly professional, personable and customer service-oriented regular folks. We may be geeks, but we aren’t your typical techies. Dave and I are both very respectful of every person’s skill level and we strive to provide you with the highest caliber of technical support with the least amount of anxiety. Give us a call – we’re looking forward to working with you.
